Race Recap - 2021 40th Anniversary Lake Havasu World Finals

Posted by Jettribe Staff on 22nd Oct 2021

The 40th Anniversary IJSBA Jettrim Lake Havasu World Finals took place earlier this month and many Jettribe sponsored riders took home some new World Champion hardware. Jettribe was stoked that we were the Official Gear Sponsor for the event since it served as Round 2 of the Water Jet World Grand Prix #1. Jettribe had the honor of outfitting both the Course Marshal team and the event staff.

During our week we saw lots of new and returning racers to Lake Havasu after the long Covid lockdown. The event was missing some of our international friends that were unable to travel due to restrictions, but we kept in touch over video messenger. In the end, we were happy to show off our remaining stock of 2021 products and visit with our extended Jet Ski family!

Jettribe's truck had a rough start on our way to Havasu with a mechanical breakdown in Albuquerque, New Mexico. On the drive to Arizona from Texas our beloved Dually broke yet another transfer case. Luckily we were near Jettribe Team Riders The Poper Family and they hooked us up with a friend to continue taking the trailer to Havasu.

A huge group of racers from Team Nauti Water Racing came out to Havasu, many of them for the first time. It was great seeing their reaction to both the city and the race site at the Crazy Horse Campground. We could not have gotten our 60-foot wide booth set up and disassembled so quickly without their help!

The weather remained on the cool side after a quick thunderstorm early in the week, but this did not slow down the action on the water. Jettribe Rider Cameron Frame blew past the competition to come out on top of the Pro-Am Runabout 1100 Open. Our resident doctor and racer Jon Phan continued to honor his late friend and teammate Aaron Cress with a win in Aaron's name for Pro-Am Ski Superstock. Up and coming Junior Ryder Wildeboer continued his impressive career winning both Sport Spec and Pro-Am Ski Stock.

We also saw the return of the Kasza Racing team. Gyorgy Kasza ripped it up on the water, but after some mechanical issues, it was his teammate Cseke Zsolt that saw the podium for both Pro-Am Runabout Limited and Pro-Am Runabout Superstock. When we congratulated Gyorgy on his recent baby announcement, he thought we were talking about his race earlier that day! He always has racing on his mind.

Junior racers from Nauti Water Tristan Hiebert and Andrew Vo took home 2nd and 3rd in Junior Ski 10-12 4 Stoke Lites. It was the first Worlds for both of them! There were so many other Jettribe riders that took podium during the week-long event. Check out our social media to see photos of them all!

The season is not over yet, as the final Round 3 of the WGP #1 will take place this January in Pattaya, Thailand. The Jettribe team looks forward to seeing World Cup Champions in our future.
